The origins of Mane to Tail Equine Wellness can be traced back to the 1980s, an era when the ideas of massage therapy and bodywork were still largely unrecognized. During this time, I worked at a large barn that consistently accommodated around 150 horses, immersing myself in their purchase, sale, riding, and showcasing. It was here that I began to intuitively calm horses through the gentle application of light touch and massage.
Fast forward forty years: after a period devoted to marriage and raising my family, my husband and I took part in a cattle drive in Montana, reigniting my deep-seated love for horses. To my delight, he gifted me a mare, although I found myself uncertain about which discipline to explore or if I preferred simply leisurely riding.
Once we brought her home, we encountered several health issues, including Lyme disease, ulcers, and intermittent lameness. This brought back my awareness of the soothing effects of light touch. Inspired, I began researching and discovered the practices of massage therapy and Masterson bodywork.
When my husband inquired about my birthday vacation plans, I expressed my desire to travel to Virginia for training as an equine sports massage therapist. He was understandably surprised, expecting a conventional beach getaway. The class turned out to be incredibly comprehensive and informative, teaching me valuable lessons about starting an equine business—even though I was adamant that I had no plans to do so, as I was content in my full-time career with a plastic surgeon.
Upon returning home, I proudly added ESMT to my credentials. My mare thrived under these techniques, and soon, my fellow horse enthusiasts began asking for massages for their animals too. This enthusiasm led to the creation of Mane to Tail Equine Wellness LLC.
Fueled by this newfound passion, I embarked on training in the Masterson Method, a journey I am still pursuing. Furthermore, I delved into PEMF technology, becoming a Certified Practitioner of BEMER, Magnawave, and Magnawave Red Light. I also serve as a distributor for BEMER for both equine and human use; my husband and I incorporate our human BEMER into our daily routine!
I believe strongly in maintaining a diverse array of tools to address each horse's unique needs. Above all, my genuine commitment to achieving results distinguishes me. Having witnessed firsthand the benefits I can provide, I am enthusiastic about sharing these positive outcomes with every horse I encounter.
